Jan. 25th, 2007 12:55 amNow I just have to remember what all I was going to talk about.
My semester ended up with me not having Japanese and taking Chinese instead, which is cool. As predicted, tones are my failing point; I can say all the basic phonetic sounds just fine, but when I have to link things together I tend to say things incorrectly. Don't ask me to pronounce Jianada. Things're going okay in the other classes so far, too, although I'm a bit wonder-y about what to write my first paper for Humanities on (due next week, sometime).
I kind of noticed that sometime between high school and now, I've lost a lot of confidence in answer-giving. All throughout primary and high school, I was always the one with my hand up, always knew the right answer before almost anyone else, always had no hesitation in writing down the correct answer for my homeworks. I don't, anymore - now it's other people who contribute the deep things during class, and, as I noticed when I went to do my syntax homework the other day, I can still recognize the right answer but agonize over it for hours before committing to something because I'm not sure if it's right or not. (Turns out my initial hunch was correct; we went over the problem later in class and everything I pointed out in my own answer was what she pointed out.) I just could never do that with my comp sci classes - I was always unsure when answering things in them, and I'm still unsure now, but I have apparently no reason to be (from what I've seen so far). It's a little comforting to know that, but I'll probably still agonize for a while.
The only bad thing about my schedule is that it doesn't overlap with Trav's much at all - the only times I get to see him during the week are either Thursday if I go up early, or Friday if I go up at all. This is more a problem with his schedule than mine, really (he spends most of it travelling back and forth between Surrey and Burnaby), but it's crappy nonetheless.
They went and cut down the last remaining huge stand of trees on the corner of 160th and 104th sometime between Tuesday and now. It's absolutely disgusting, how the crews can just move in there one day and leave an absolute swath of destruction in their wake in such little time. Just a pile of branches and stumps and dirt now. The trees had been tagged for a while, ever since the attempt to stop the development didn't go through, but it's still really upsetting. What the hell do we even need more shops for? It's not like Guildford's all that far away, for things you can't get here already. Fucking Surrey and its fucking 'City of Parks' bullshit. Only parkish so long as a fucking developer isn't waving dollar bills at the city council. There won't be any forest left in Fraser Heights if they have their way - they cut down part of the park behind my house, too, to make way for more houses. More! As long as they can make money from it... Rrrrrr. It makes me angryyyy.
What made me even angrier was something I heard on the bus when driving by it yesterday - two teenaged girls, who probably should've been in classes instead of taking a bus up to the mall, kind of whispered it over it for a few moments. "Oh, that kinda sucks," said one. "Yeah, but I hear there's a Subway going in," replied the other. "Oh, cool. I like trees and all, but I like Subway more," said the first.
I just have no words, really.
No, scratch that, I do. Did either of you two whores-in-training see the size of the trees they so carelessly toppled? The amount of them? Did you even think about the birds and animals that nested there, lived in among them, how they're likely either dead or lost because their home is gone? All so that you can have fucking Subway sandwiches.
And there's a Quizno's right across the fucking street from the school already, you cunts.
Cocksuckers.
On the tangent of cocksucking, however, I managed to attend two sexually-charged events within the past two weekends. Trav and I went to the Taboo sex show down at the convention center two Sundays ago. Saw some interesting things. Burlesque and belly dancers are neat! Pole dancers - the athletic kind, mind, not the skanky-and-nothing-else-kind - are absolutely insane (one gal, who was the founder of one of the gyms around here that do it, I do not understand how she clung to the top of that thing whilst whirling and spinning and flipping about, does not compute). I also saw more dildos than I've ever seen in my life all packed into one place together.
Actually, I've never been in a sex shop, and my knowledge of dildos is all based around joke-things, so, uh, the most dildos I've ever seen in my life, period. They were kind of intimidating, actually - the model that was everywhere was some construction with a swivelling tip and beads that moved below that and a vibrating *insert beaver/rabbit/dolphin/butterly here* on another little arm thing, and, uh. Yeah. Some had little LEDs in and flashed. Some worked to the strains of your iPod. It was kinda nuts.
In the end we just bought a couple of low-heat-burning soy candles that are used for massages. Mmm, tasty hot massage oil that's not actually oil. <3 I have mine packed in a plastic bag and stashed in the back of my nightstand drawer, and I can still smell cherries when I go to sleep.
Then the next weekend (or rather, last weekend), Aimee had an UndercoverWear party at her sister's place. It was kind of like a tupperware party, but with lingerie and really nice lotions and bath things and sex toys instead of plastic things to hold food. Also bought a few things - but sheesh, those sorts of parties are ones you could go to and just spend a huge amount of money. I would've bought tons more had I the cash to spare. Or a credit card. ^^; (Me with credit card = very bad idea. It's not that I'd go and do something silly and get myself an entirely new wardrobe... I'd go and do something silly and suddenly BOOM there'd be fifteen new electronic things in my room. Like a Wii. Wii!) I also won a couple of things from raffles, which was awesome. My luck was in that day, or something.
I've sort of started a workout program thing maybe with Trav. He got his Bowflex finally, and I've now used it a grand number of twice. The first time wasn't so bad, but I got really grumpy the second time (which happens often when I work out; the endorphins aren't enough for me or something?), so we'll see what happens with that.
I should go post with Rhaetia. She trans-ed last Saturday. Haven't posted with her since. XD I still don't know exactly how she's changed - well, I know a little of how - or what she wished for (although I have ideas), so whatever I do will just have to sort of be vague, but. XD
Hmmm. And I think that's it. I've got some random stuff I could rant about, but... Eh. We'll save it for now.
