Just got back from Student Night.
Student Night consists of students - of bellydance - gathering together, decorating a hall, inviting a whole bunch of people in, and dancing. With bellies. And other assorted things.
I shook my stuff in front of a crowd of nearly two hundred tonight.
Kecharitomene went pretty good. My gold veil actually flows really well for that number, and I managed to remember most of it.
Waleet Harb, not bad, but not great. The cane was at least tapping at most of the right spots, even if my body wasn't always following along.
It was after that that I discovered that my pants were starting to lose beads and coins along one edge at an alarming rate - must've got a snag or something, snapped threads, etc etc. Quickly changed into my second, a bit early.
Drum Solo 9 was therefore plagued with one strap that wasn't quite taped down as it should have been. Kept sliding off my shoulder. Piece was bouncy. Kept up, mostly. Too busy worrying about costume to keep perfect time, unfortunately.
I nailed the fuck out of Turkish Delight. I just want that noted. I was the best goddamn dancer on the stage for that one - and that was probably one of the hardest ones we did.
Bitwannes Beek followed after. Managed to throw in a last practice for it quickly after TD backstage, but I still didn't quite feel prepared. It kinda showed in a few places.
You Are Welcome was pretty okay, too, although it was scheduled right after BB, and that one is seven friggin' minutes long of intricate choreography. YAW is a peppy, fast piece with veil and lots and lots of arms up and down and whirling and twirling. I was exhausted by the end of it, and I'm pretty sure at one point - the 'fancy arms' section - I forgot the choreography, but I just went off and did my own thing instead. I didn't stop moving or anything and kept time, so I was pleased by that. A little 'solo', if you will.
Overall, night a success. Especially since mom's 50-50 ticket won the draw and she gave the spoils to me. :3
Now, shower, and sleep. omg tiiiired.
