So the only problem with reading anything that comes from the Maritimes - such as the potato cookbook that I bought in PEI - is that I will invariably come across a term that I just do not understand.
For example, a recipe for fish cakes doesn't seem to include any fish whatsoever from the ingredients list... except for this thing referred to as 'chicken haddie'. I... I don't know. Some kind of haddock?
There is no other clue as to what this mysterious 'chicken haddie' might be - it's referred to in the recipe description, too, as being a canned good, but no clue otherwise.
Goddamn Maritimers. They could at least have understandable slang!
