End of an era - part 2!
Apr. 24th, 2004 09:12 pmWhee! Exams are finally done for everyone, I managed to get C+'s in both CMPT 150 and Chem 120 (thus saving my ass from academic probation), and rez has, sadly, been emptied of all the possessions of people formerly living there.
*goes to hunt down her bottle of hard cranberry-lemonade before continuing*
*returns, having snatched it in the broad view of her parents, grinning quite cheekily*
So, yeah. Where was I?
...Right, school all done 'til fall. *nod* I've still gotta find out whether I'm going to get more hours in at the donut shop, or else find a new job - gonna have to work part-time to be able to pay for tuition and living expenses and all that shyte.
But anywhoo.
The past 36 hours has been quite a blast. ^^ As mentioned previously, it was my birthday - and Travis', and Rob's, and three other people that I know by association - and thusly I joined the ranks of those that can walk into a bar and demand alcoholic sustenance. ^^
In Canada, anyways, but that's beside the point.
I spent the morning, however, getting up much too early and heading to the mall. My hair took about an hour to get set into its design (with a rather large handful of bobby pins, and so much hairspray that I joked to the guys not to let me near any open flame), and the makeup took another hour or so after that. The results were really quite nice - pictures to follow, once Travis downloads 'em off his cam.
Before I went and wormed my way into me dress, Dad got home - and quite nearly dumped a huge bouquet of assorted flowers into my lap. ^^; Pritty things. They're currently occupying the table out in the living room - there's no space currently in my room for them, hehe.
Into the dress I got - and the camera came out. Was quite pissed by the time they let me get out, and the ones that turned out the best were ones that were... Eh, not so 'nice'. ^^; Such as giving the camera a nice grin whilst cheerfully flipping a double-handed bird. Conversely, the 'nice' ones all ended up with the lighting wrong. Go figure.
I finally ended up making my way to the Hilton - and amazingly, didn't get too lost. When I entered the hotel lobby from the parking stairway, a few of the peoples were there already (Andy in his tux and velvet red bowtie was quite amusing; he looked twenty pounds lighter, and thus it was joked that if he turned sideways, he would be invisible), and they expressed ooohs and aaaahs at my appearance. Was nice. ^^
Noah, Omar, and Trav arrived ten minutes later, or so - Omar was the first to get inside the hotel, while the other two handled the assorted stuff brought with them, and he didn't recognize me until he got close and I greeted him cheerfully. ^^; This became a rather bit of a theme for the night - Hans, when he arrived (with Geeda, who actually exists!), had to take a second look, and so on.
While I was lost in conversation with the already-arrived folks, Travis managed to sneak up behind me - really kinda the amazing feat, as I WAS facing the hotel doorway... ^^; But manage it he did, and thusly managed to wind my present around from behind me - a bouquet of nineteen roses. ^_____^ Just opening up, too. So verrrry nice - I'm going to have to clear a space off my dresser for them, yes.
After checking out the room we were staying in, we headed down to the party, and stole ourselves a table. The feast was quite good, although I probably stuffed myself way too muchly - the dress kinda got a little constricting after everything was cleared away. ^^;
Between the food and the dance, we managed to get back to the room to start an inroad in the insane amount of booze that was brought. XD I only managed a glass of champagne and a shot of whisky at that point - I feared for the contents of my stomach if I had any more.
Omar and Andrea decided to hand out the gifts at that point, too - chocolate from she (a sacrificial milk-chocolate lamb for myself *evil grin*), and a plethora of... Well, rather strange things from Omar. As was expected, but eh. Sensual tickling devices and a set of metal handcuffs (not pink fuzzies, alas - he was going to get that sort, but when I asked him if it was indeed a pair of them, he denied it and changed the order to throw me off track) later, we headed back to the party.
Dancing began shortly afterwards, and a large group of us cut many rugs. XD Unfortunately, the DJ seemed to have a thing for hip-hop - but we fixed that, later on in the evening, once the dance floor emptied out a little, by stealing all use of him for ourselves. Eighties tunes and Irish jigs thus dominated the evening (I was called upon a few times to demonstrate how the Irish 'get down', hehe), and both Omar and Chris stole control of the equipment at various points during the night. XDD
At about 12:45, we gave in, and headed back to the room. Thus, the insane round of drinking and conversation started anew - I played it pretty light, only having a couple of shots of Baileys and another thing o' champagne, but some people decided to go all out. ^^; I found myself cuddled against a drunk for most of the night, but it wasn't all that bad - he gets very talkative (and truthful!) when he's had a bit in him, which is quiiiite different from normal, hehe.
Said talkativeness resulted in the discovery of some interesting things, though... He, in high school, apparently suffered from the same antisocialness that I did - although I don't know if it was quite to the same degree. That in itself was nice to discover - but not quite as nice as the gold nugget of the evening.
Hm. I smell like vodka. Interesting, that. [/randomblurb]
Back on topic...
So, apparently, he's had an interest in me since the second week of the fall semester, and has since been making subtle progress into taking said interest somewhere - all of the hanging about me, inviting me to random Fridays, etc, has been part of this.
Gratifying, to say the least. It turns out that I've never had anything to fear with my own interest in him. ^^ Pity it took us so long to actually step forwards, but at least something (alcohol?) enabled us to do so eventually.
I think he was rather pleased to find out that I've been interested in him for about as long, too - although I don't know if he remembers all of what happened. ^^;;
Six of us ended up staying overnight, and found various places in the room to crash. Various antics ensued through the night, when some of us found we were unable to sleep - whether through just plain ol' not-tiredness, or being in the act of praying to the porcelain god - and we ended up with talk of ninja soundtracks and togas. ^^;
Eventually, though, we did end up getting a decent amount of shut-eye. Morning was slightly amusing, once Travis half-awoke - I greeted him with a cheerful good morning, and he promptly rolled over with a painful-sounding groan. XD
We got moving and out of there eventually - had breakfast at Bon's, and gelato at a crazy place with over 200 flavours of stuff. Apple-wasabi, corn, white-chocolate-mocha - you name it, they had it as an ice-cream flavour. ^^;
Me, I had dragonfruit. XD Couldn't resist.
After that, home we went - and I saw for my own eyes exactly where Trav lives. ^^ I don't even have to cross the highway to get there, but it still requires twenty minutes of travel. Bah.
And, thus, after dismantling my hair, I've had a pretty boring afternoon... But that's okay.
Hm. Really should go clear space on my dresser.
