Well, that wasn't so bad...
Sep. 3rd, 2003 11:39 amI guess I didn't have much to worry about after all. ^^; First two days of uni have turned out fairly well.
Yesterday was the first day - quite nervous, until it struck me as I was walking down the corridor of the AQ to get to my first class that I was a university student, that I didn't have to be nervous, and that there werehundreds thousands of people there going through the same stuff as me. ^^ That made things better.
English was a tad dry, but the professor seems to be fine. Has a tad of a sense of humour, and made us all laugh, anywhoo. The class is huge, though - 210-something, all crammed into a big lecture hall. Eeek.
I still don't know what discrete math is, but I figure I'll sorta find out by the end of semester. It does have something to do with combinatorics, though, which is a good thing, since that was one of my fave units in Math 12. Professor also seems like a funny guy, more bouncy than the English one, hehe, and ripped a few definitions of 'discrete mathematics' to shreds for us. ^^;;;
I think the only bad thing about yesterday was the huge wait between the two classes... Spent most of it reading the essay that we were assigned to read in Eng, and reading my other book. Thank you, printed words...
Also saw a few people from FH, which made the whole aloneness thing seem a little better. Even though I wasn't particularly friends with either girl, it was quite nice just to see a familiar face. ^^;
Oh, and parking sucked.
Today was the early-early classes, and parking wasn't so bad. Actually got a space fairly close to the building. That was a good thing.
Calculus seems like it'll just be a review of everything I did last year... Which is good. No integration, aside from a few little things, though - which is also good, since it's my differentiation that I need to brush up on. ^^; The prof. for that class is a liiitle on the strange side, from my first impression of me, but then again, he's been infected by calculus, so I can't blame him.
Was late to intro programming, as I got a little lost trying to get to the West Mall Complex thing... But it wasn't too bad. My only woman-professor of my courses this semester, and she has an alternating French accent - when she speaks, some sentences sound like perfect English, and then others have a heavy French lilt to them. Kinda freaky. ^^; She told us that we'd be going out of lectures not knowing what the hell just happened, but that it would be normal. Glad to know that, anywhoo, seeing as how I don't know a thing.
But now I've got to go get a shift of work cancelled... Want to go to the welcoming BBQ on Friday, can't work at the same time. ^^; And then might go piano-hunting.
Heeere, piano-piano-piano...
