Well, the three-quarters-of-a-month-of-DOOM is over - Annette flew back to LA on Sunday. 'Twas much fun whilst it lasted... Although I, for some reason, ended up having things to do half the time we tried to get together. ^^; Ah well.
We had exploits on Thursday, however - dragged both she and Nick out to the pub for Trivia night, and both me parents were along instead of the usual Dad. Of course, since mother's silly when she gets a bit of alcohol in her and lets the other people hear what the answers were, we practically had to shush her the whole night - which just got her ass up in the air. *sigh*
There were other - exploits - which I won't get into... But I'll just say that a certain couple were rather unhinged on the booze and got quite drunk. Really quite drunk. XD
Friday I had adventures with making pecan pie - never made one before, but Trav's favorite two pies happen to be strawberry-rhubarb - which we had no rhubarb out back, so I threw that one out on the principle of the thing - and pecan. So pecan it was. *nod* My piecrusts always turn out well - I'm the only one around here who has a knack for 'em (me dad sometimes does them, but they're never quite as tender as miiiine are XD) - but I usually dun like to whisk off a pie that I've never made before to places where people other than family are. ^^;;
It didn't turn out all that badly, though - a little browner than I would've liked it, but I be putting that blame squarely on the cookbook. *nod* Looked online afterwards at other recipes, an' most of them had shorter cooking times or cooler temperatures, even with the same ingredients. Ah well, next time I make it I'll know better.
And what did I make the pie for? 'Twas his sister's birthday - although he didn't see fit to tell me that in the blasted invitation XD - and so I went and cavorted and had much sugar (XD) and heard a bit of dirt on the poor lad. Well, perhaps not so much on that last one, but anywhoo. ^^
Turns out that his mother's favorite pie is pecan, too. ^^;;
Saturday, of course, we hightailed it to Anime Evolution, the quartet of us - meself, Annette, Judy, and Nick. ...And Judy's lil' brother, but he doesn't count.
We romped ourselves around the convention quite nicely, the three of us who were cosplaying Dawnrose characters intimidating everyone as we walked down the hallways in a horizontal line. XD It turns out that people who look like they belong in the Matrix - as it should've looked! - are things that should be steered away from. XDD
I took many photos - were some very nice costumes there - and some video, as I had borrowed Sean's digital camcorder, and we watched some stuff, bought some stuff - I got the cutest polymer figurine of an RO femme-mage ^^ - saw some quite nice AMVs, dashed about back and forth in the dealer's rooms and looking for various panels - never found them, but meh - and attended a dinner with various VAs. Judy got to meet Trieze's VA right close up (came and sat at our table for a while, even though it was Annette that was talking more-ish to him XD), and Scott McNeil was there in full-force - armed with the hordes of fangirls. I swear, there were friggin' hordes. They wouldn't let the poor guy eat, even! XD He be-ith Annette's idol, too - but for some reason, she got hit by nervousness, and wouldn't go up to talk to him. Judy tried to get 'im to come over, but he was busy with the horde, and thus it was nearly before we left that we finally managed to get her over there. Upon finding out that 'oh, this is the painfully shy friend!', he gave her quite the hug, and she got his autograph, so things be all good. ^^
The highlight of the con would have to be Nick managing to glomp a Squall and a Cloud cosplayers. XD The Cloud one was really out of the blue - we were just passing by him in the halls (he even had the huge sword!) - and Nick just reached over and glomped. XDD
My feet and legs, however, did not forgive me the convention 'til yesterday. I haven't done that much walking in months - and in the boots I was in, ooooouch.
After the con, we went and rounded up Trav so's Annette could finally meet him, and the four of us left went out for bubble tea.
The only bad part was that we had to miss the Yaoi panel to get Judeh home in time. ^^; That would've been an interesting thing to sit through, methinks...
So, because of my rebelling legs, I've mostly been resting and relaxing. I think prob'ly tomorrow or the day after I'll be job-hunting for the fall... So we'll see what comes of that.
Canada seems to be sucking the big one when it comes to the medal-standings in the Olympics right now... *growl* Ah well. It's only because we're a country more suited to the winter ones. *nodnod* That's what I'll keep telling myself, anyways.
And I've managed to do more RPing with Ry tonight than I have in the past two weeks! *gasp*
Anywhoo, that be all for now! *vanishes*
