EDIT: ALSO, JUST BECAUSE YOU WRITE NOVELS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE 'SKILL'.

I only have to cite 'Night Travels of the Elven Vampire' to prove this.

Gardslkghhdsfljf.

So I'm sitting here studying for my next two exams (Phonology tonight and Chinese tomorrow!) and distracting myself slightly with Furc. And two very annoying things occur.

A) One of the non-staffies sitting around in the OOC room starts shitting all over himself when mention of applying for staff surfaces, and doesn't fucking stop. "Woe woe woe! I'm useless, I suck, there's no way I could ever make it to staff, I ruin everything I touch, whinewhinewhine." I shit you not, every line that he types is some sort of diatribe against himself.

So some of the other people sitting around try to comfort him and encourage him. I, meanwhile, am stuck twitching. Either he a) has serious self-esteem issues, or b) is fishing for sympathy and/or compliments. Either way, it's fucking annoying. God, people, grow up and have a little confidence in yourself. Morons. It doesn't matter what people think of you or your actions! It doesn't matter what I think of you! Just stop being so goddamn passive-agressive whiny before my urge to bitchslap you rises.

B) While this is occuring, another group of us start talking about stuff that could bud off into some sort of philosophical discussion thing. War, human nature, etc. I counter someone's viewpoint that 'no one's perfect, because otherwise war wouldn't exist' with something about how even the gods have been known to go to war, and they're supposed to be perfect. He counters that with something vaguely Christian-esque, and I say to myself, 'oh, yay, religious discussion! Those are fun'.

But three other people immediately say things along the lines of 'stop right there'. Eh? What's wrong with discussing religion, I ask. 'It just leads to fights!'

...Well, no. Not if you, you know, discuss it peaceably and don't react terribly because someone else has a different viewpoint than yours. Like civilized people. Annette and I do it all the time, and we've never gnawed on each other!

So I tell them that, and attempt to get back to the discussion, and am immediately shut down again. Sigh. Then the person I was discussing with says that he's not really in the mood for heavy discussion, and I stop then. No fun discussing just by yourself, after all.

But people who shut down discussions because they can't fathom that other people can actually talk about things without arguing? Thumbs down!
