Edit: Oh, yeah. White Christmas. No one saw that'un friggin' coming. (Hooray!)

We did Christmas a bit different this year, since Mom had to work today - which isn't bad, considering she's making over ninety bucks an hour for twelve hours, at double-time-and-a-half, but still. So we opened gifts last night! My brother and I have been trying to convince our parents to open them early every year for the past twenty, and finally we succeed (even though it wasn't because of us begging hush).

-A new pair of boots, ones that should work a lot better in cold, wet weather than my last pair did. They're stout and ungraceful and furry-stuff lined. :3
-New everyday shoes, the old ones being falling apart. They're comfy and stuff, have a nice gel layer built right into the heel.
-Jeans (and eventually, a couple of shirts, when I get out to buy them)
-Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
-Memoirs of a Geisha movie. Mom actually got it for my sister, but she'd seen it already, so she gave it to me instead. I'd personally be more interested in the book than the movie, but oh well.
-Sixth Rhapsody book (sigh, I know, but I think I have a strange habit for bad fiction, much like my boyfriend does for bad movies)
-The usual socks and underthings
-Assorted chocolates
-Assorted smellystuff (tasty tasty cranberry bodywash and soap)
-Three shirts and a twirly chain with my initials in Mayan writing from Trav's parents
-Cute monkey-print pajamas from his sister
-And a lump of coal with candy inside from him.
...Plus a very pretty white-gold ring with many emeralds on (and I think two or four small accent diamonds). Emeralds're my favorite stones, but I hadn't had anything with them in until now!
AND HAIR TIES PFFFFT

There'll be Second-Christmas in about a week when Stace's giftbox arrives. She always sends way too much stuff, and usually it's late, but hey, you can't complain.

Also, Portal is awesome - I got the Orange Box for my brother for the PS3, and it was the first thing he played out of all three games he got (seven, if you wanna include the five seperate games in the OB). The computery lass is so much fun, even when she's not trying to kill you. The catnip-stuffed squirrel I got for Marm has also been a big hit with the kitties.

Aside from the big day, though, I've been busy-busy. Work ended on the 21st - we got out early, I brought in DDR for the girls to play (which was absolutely hilarious; none of them had really played it before), and we all went out to a pub nearby for late lunch and drinks. Some skeezy guy ended up buying all twelve of us a round, hehe, but the boss paid for the rest of it, which was really nice - and we got a hundred-buck bonus on top, too.
For the last week, I was back and forth between proofreading and working in the back - they had me assembling flip-styled calendars (which are the normal kind people would think of). Industrial staplers are rather like sewing machines, but with metal thread, and they often goof up on the rightmost staple for some reason. Also got to handle a drill press (to put the nail-holes in!). It was more interesting than working in the front, certainly - in the back, you have to pay attention, or else you lose fingers.

And then there was all sorts of shopping that I did, and lots and lots of baking - shortbreads (two giant batches of - I brought one into work, and the gals all loved 'em and stole my recipe, hehe), candy cane cookies, cream cheese cookies (tasty), raspberry pinwheels, turtle squares, fudge meltaway bars... And then the gingerbread house and some mens to go along with. You can see why I do not wish to bake again for a week or two or five.

Trav and I also went to the Impact and Sunco Christmas parties, where lots of food was eaten, many beverages imbibed, and fun was had. The only downer was at the Sunco party - they had a live band instead of a DJ this year, and while they were good, they must have had their amps at 11 or something. I had a pretty terrible headache before they were even done the first set, and it made dancing extremely difficult. Had to go home earlier than normal, too, 'cause I had my last dance class and a dim sum lunch to go to.

I bought zills at that last class, and have proceeded to annoy everyone with them. :3 Should maybe make some mufflers for them.

Ah, and for Trav's present, I took him out for dinner at Steamworks - where they had the oatmeal stout in, and he was pleased - and to the symphony, or at least, the strings section of it. We saw the VSO's violinandotherstringfolk perform a bunch of pieces, headlined by Vivaldi's Four Seasons. It was really neat. Also, the theatre in which we saw it in has the best acoustics in the city, apparently (according to the Rough Guide to Canada, which I also got him, for planning his trip across the country).

And that is pretty much all I've been up to lately, I think. I did have a rant or two stored up, but I can't remember them now, sigh. Probably just as well.

Turkey-time!
