News of the keyboard attachment in Rock Band 3 has finally managed to pique my interest in that series. Guitar, drums, meh. Keyboard? Hell yes. It's also actually looks like a keyboard, and is scaled up to play like a goddamn keyboard, at least in the higher difficulty levels. Easy levels, just hit buttons in the right colour neighbourhood. Harder? You better hit the right goddamn key.

Now there's an instrument I could play in those games and go in on hard and look like the awesomest person ever.

They're including the Bohemian Rhapsody, finally, which they couldn't do without the keys. Looks like Metric got a song in, too, with Combat Baby. Good on 'em.

In other Metric news, looks like they were hand-picked to write the theme song/single for Eclipse.

...*twitch*

I s'pose that's a great entry point into mainstream music and getting more exposure, but damn. Could it possibly be for a worse production?

It's a 25 key keyboard, and in Pro mode, you use the whole thing, so yeah.
It's an actual MIDI keyboard to boot. If you have your own MIDI keyboard, you can buy an adapter and use it as well.

The Pro mode guitar requires REAL guitar playing, using all the frets. That's 102 buttons in total on that.

And you can have 3 singers. Up to 7 simultaneous players in total.

Insane

Insane, maybe, but wouldn't it feel great to actually accomplish a song on Pro like that?

I heard the other feature of Pro is that it doesn't use the button roll as the normal modes do - it actually has clef notation, somehow. You're almost actually playing music, basically.

Metric's target demo is gonna change biiiiiiig time -- I predict an excess of future songs about 'complicated situations'!

Hehe, perhaps. I'm hoping that just the opposite will happen - if the Twitards do happen to start listening to their music, it will open their minds up a bit to a world beyond sparkly vampires and 'safe' romanticism.

But that may just be hoping a bit too much.
