It's kidding. Right?
So I haven't made a blog post in a few weeks, I've been informed. Ah well. Been busy lately, what with floods and gales and snowstorms.
No, seriously. First the heavens opened up and poured rain upon us in vast amounts. Then the winds decided to join in the fun and knocked out power to, like, everyone. And now? Now it's the coldest it's been since I can ever remember it being here (not as cold as it was Winnipeg, mind, but nothing gets as cold as Winnipeg), and a foot or so of snow got dumped over the weekend. It's all kinds of awesome. Couldn't go into work yesterday because of the car not wanting to co-operate in the cul-de-sac (Mom had managed to get it stuck right in the middle of the street the evening before). Spent part of the day shovelling out the driveway instead, and man, I'm paying for it now.
(Goddamnit. Italics. Picking up Lilith's speech patterns.)
Went in today, though, and got to do different things, in the plant. Two of the gals working back there are having a rough time of it - their mom's really sick, apparently, so they're having problems focusing on stuff at times. Thusly, a bunch of us got drafted to help with shipping work. One of these things was putting calendars in envelopes. Pick up calendar. Open up brown paper envelope a little. Shove calendar in. Place envelope in a pile. Repeat 25 times. Stagger pile so groups of 25 can be counted. Repeat 'til order is done. Repeat all steps until no more calendars or until brain explodes from lack of activity.
I shoved about 1400 calendars in envelopes.
Then! We got to half-assemble shipping boxes. Unfold box. Fold bottom flaps down. Two strips of one type of tape on either end to hold down flaps. One big strip of packing tape over the crevice. Throw box into a pile. Rinse and repeat.
My fingers and knuckles are all torn up from the tape holder things, and I'm still covered in bits of cardboard.
At least it was something different?
The past weekend was fun~ Trav and I were out walking his dog when the snow started falling, so we got to see things from the beginning. I ended staying over at his place that night, actually, since the roads got slippery and slidy enough. Went to Science World the next day with him and his cousin. Always a neat place. Got to check out the Body Worlds exhibit - the one with the plasticized corpses. It wasn't creepy at all, surprisingly, and I normally get grossed out by gory/'unnatural'/normal-looking things. Really kinda neat... Although I think the arterial models were the neatest of everything they had on display. Also saw a movie at the Omnimax, which was also neat. About ancient Greece, really big (of course) and sweeping. Some of the landscapes they brought the camera over were just awesome, and the reconstruction they did of the Parthenon was preeeeetty.
Did my course selection a week ago. As of this moment, I'll be taking Phonology, Syntax, Classical Mythology, and Intro to Mandarin. I've also got permission from the instructor to take the second level of Japanese, but it hasn't gone through yet on GoSFU, so I can't enroll for it yet. Bah. Still waiting on an answer from him about that one. Not certain if I'll drop Mandarin if it goes through, yet, though. We'll see.
I can't believe the Wii's been out for a week and I have yet to see one, let alone touch one. Siiiiiiiigh.
And as I don't have any particularly profound things to write about at the moment, I shall leave this at that.
